Mazda 6th hits the big time with 6 figures…

Nine years on from its original production, the new mazda6 has hit its two-millionth car manufactured making it the second fastest Mazda car sold of all-time, the first being the Mazda3.

The first Mazda3 was manufactured at the Hofu Plant No. 2 in Yamaguchi prefecture; Japan and the plant are since enjoying celebrating the milestone that is the 2,000,000 car in production.

The new generation Mazda6 was launched in 2007 was spurred on by the previous Mazda6 when it hit 1,000,000 in 2006 safe in the knowledge that the second million would be close behind.

The executive officer in charge of R&D and Program Management at Mazda Cars was quoted as saying 'I still have a special fondness for this terrific car' and he is extremely 'grateful to the two million-plus customers around the world who have purchased a Mazda6.'
