When shopping around for a used car you want the widest choice, best part exchange deal, affordable finance offers and good levels of customer service. Buying a used car can be a scary experience, used car supermarkets attempt to make this experience a lot easier by combining all aspects of the purchase under one roof.
At a used car supermarket expect to have the pick of the bunch, with models from Audi, Ford, BMW, Skoda, Renault and all the other manufacturers. There is no need to travel one end of the country to the other to view a used car.
The whole point of a used car supermarket is to be able to have on display many variations of the same model, so if you are after a particular colour, trim level or age you are more than likely to find it.
The vast models and variations also help the buyer decide on exactly what it is they need and what they can do without. Knowing that there will be many variations of the model you are after makes used car supermarkets the 1st point of call, as the likely hood of finding the perfect car is very high.
Used car supermarkets such as the Car Shop offer all the services a buyer would need to complete the transaction, they offer very competitive prices for your old car – taking out the hassle of having to sell it yourself. They can also arrange finance in house, taking out the hassle of finding a loan or finance house.
Reputable car supermarkets also provide the reassurance that you are buying a safe, pre inspected and quality used vehicle, many also provide extended warranties and free 7 day insurance. So, the next time you’re looking for a new used car why not visit a car supermarket first.

The Futura of Ford...
The Fusion was originally to be called the Futura, which was last used in North America as the name of a two-door version of the Fairmont. The Futura name was originally introduced as a Lincoln concept car in 1955. The Lincoln Futura later was converted to the Batmobile for the television series Batman (1966–1968). In 1961
The Ford Fusion is a mid-size car produced by the Ford Motor Company since the 2006 model year. The 2010 model was awarded the Motor Trend Car of the Year and its hybrid version won the 2010 North American Car of the Year Award.
According to Ford, consumer response to the 2006 Fusion had exceeded their expectations, with 30,000 sold during the first quarter of 2006. By October 2009, the Fusion became one of the top ten best-selling cars for the first time, as well as the best-selling car by a domestic automaker.
Ford Motor Company announced its attempt to use a fuel cell version of the Fusion, Ford Fusion Hydrogen 999, to set a land speed record on Aug. 10-17 during Bonneville Speed Week in 2007. Ford engineers and technicians came up with a vehicle design that could meet the goal of exceeding 200 mph (320 km/h) on the Bonneville Salt Flats fueled only by hydrogen. On August 15, 2007, the vehicle set the fastest fuel cell ground vehicle speed record of 207.297 mph (333.612 km/h).
On the other hand the performance on Ford Fusion Hatchback is no ball on fire, both petrol engines need working hard and the 1.4 can struggle, particularly when laden. The 1.4 diesel’s low-down pull makes it the easiest engine day to day, and makes the 1.6 diesel a needless expense.
Many car dealers have a selection of new and used Ford cars across car showrooms, Dinnages Ford are proud to represent Ford Fusion, Sussex. It has a fantastic selection of Ford Fusion offers across a range of new and used cars where you will find some great savings.

All this trendy talk has got me quite interested in a Vauxhall as a contender for my coveted new car role. I may have to go and see the Used Vauxhall in Cardiff that I saw yesterday online….. After all, if it’s hip enough for Gav, it’s hip enough for me!

My Used Peugeot Hunt has begun…

I am considering a used Peugeot 206 as my next car choice and have been scouring the net to find a suitable vehicle that ticks all of my boxes. I like green as a colour scheme and have finally found a used Peugeot in Doncaster that I really like!
The Peugeot 206 is a generally reliable car to own, with low maintenance costs and fairly low petrol prices. I like the smooth design of the car and feel it looks particularly sophisticated for a smaller car- perfect for my work life balance.
When looking on the net I also found a used Peugeot in Cardiff and a used Peugeot in Swindon, but they didn’t make the ‘green’ grade, colour wise obviously! Will keep you posted as to how I get on, but for the meantime, have a picture to put you on!

Renault make creating cars a breeze…
French car makers Renault have created a new automobile the Renault Wind, an up and coming roadster. Unveiled originally in 2004 in Geneva as a 2+1 roadster, it has been updated to be a 2 seater motor.
A combination of both hard top fashion and practicality in the form of a button, the new Renault Wind has a roof that can be opened in a matter of 12 seconds. The only car in its class to have this functionality, the new Renault wind is set to cause a hurricane of fuss- God I’m funny!

Subaru re-thinks their plan of action...
Japanese car brand Subaru has decided to re-think their design strategy to appeal to a wider audience of car buyers.
Eager to unite all of their design elements into one solid idea, Subaru want to attract a larger demographic as opposed to a loyal, smaller following. With an aim to bring Subaru into the future, associate with more current affairs and react to the trends of the automotive market, the new design leader has got some hard work to do.
Injecting style into the Subaru car brand will ultimately make it a household auto name. With the new branding, I wonder what new Subaru cars will come from it. Exciting times ahead...

Vauxhall ventures into the Fashion realms…

This year at Fashion week, Vauxhall headed up a fashion award- Vauxhall Fashion Scout's Merit Award. The winner was Eudon Choi a designer that has spent his time with Sienna Miller famed label Twenty8Twelve prior to his own launch.
I am so excited to view his range that has already graced Jameela Jamil at the Brit Awards 2010 who wore a monochrome dress created by his label.

New Skoda is FAB-ia...
The all new Czech Skoda Fabia has just undergone a facelift. Mid-way through their career, the new Skoda Fabia is set for release in December of this year. Subject to a full re-design including its headlamps and tail lamps, the new Fabia also has a newly improved engine both in petrol and diesel, with a top power of 75 PS.
With an all new colour palette both inside and out of the car, there are new exterior materials used to construct the car such as rubbers. Perfect for those who need an economic and aesthetic stimulus, the new Skoda Fabia ticks the boxes for value for money and the fashion conscious.
The new Skoda Fabia also drives extremely well, refined and smooth on most surfaces. With plentiful space in the front and back, especially in the boot, it is the ideal car for a long weekend away for you and your family. I may have to go check out the new Skoda Fabia at my local Skoda dealer this weekend. Still on the hunt for my perfect car…

Alfa Romeo captured in a piece of artwork...

Guest of honour at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this year, Alfa Romeo showed over 50 of its cars, of which both past and present could be seen. Out of the 50 cars shown at the Festival which took place over four days, 16 of the cars were exclusive models belonging to the Alfa Romeo History Museum that is based in Italy.
As a tribute to the Alfa Romeo make, a sculpture was erected inspired by the cloverleaf badge that it is the Alfa Romeo iconic logo. Created by designer Gerry Judah, the sculpture was made to capture the spirit of the Italian brand and most importantly the cars that Alfa Romeo have created throughout the years. Four Alfa Romeo models, including the 1993 155 DTM and the Le Mans Speciale took part in the displays at the Goodwood Festival as well as the Goodwood Hill climb which is a 2km course lined with trees. Testing drivers and pushing them to their limits, the demanding course commands attention to detail and great precision; a great race to watch.
The Alfa Romeo 8C Spider is a head turner thanks to its incredible engine growl as well as its beautiful looks and it amazed onlookers at the Festival as it made its way through the crowds competing in the race. Lipscomb Contract Hire in Kent has had particular success with their range of sporty cars including the Giulietta with customers requiring a car that has not only the looks but the power to back it up.
Foxy little spot of advertising…

The new Volkswagen Fox has been the subject of a new advertising campaign that really is thinking outside of the box. A print based campaign that features a Volkswagen Fox with its inside on the outside, showcasing its brand new redesigned interior without a glimmer of the inside of the car.
Have a look and see what you think & post your comments if you feel passionate about it! I have always been a fan of the Volkswagen Fox since I saw it at my local Canterbury Volkswagen dealership and since its fantastic re-design I am even more converted.

Driving age to be raised?

Currently 17 in the UK, it has been queried how old the legal driving age should be with British motorists. The Car Insurance firm Admiral recently held a survey amongst British motorists to engage with their market and discuss the age they thought you should be to drive.
The outcome was actually completely different to what I expected, with the age being 21, a whopping 4 years older than what the current age is. Another surprise from the survey was the opinion with 38% of motorists that hoped for the legal speed limit to be as low as 20 mph in residential areas.
It seems that many motorists are of a different view to myself… 1 in 5 of those who undertook the survey said that the use of congestion charges in built up towns and cities would help with their daily drives.
I started driving at the age of 17 and it took me until I was 21 to finally pass, all be it with a number of breaks in between! I think I was ready at that point, I just struggles to get to grips with the whole driving thing- I think you either take to it or not, a bit like marmite. I learnt in a number of cars also, including a Ford Ka and a slightly larger model the Ford Focus, both of which were great to drive. I was quite lucky as my Mum bought me the Ford Ka and kitted it out with comforting Ford parts such as a CD player that helped me relax when I passed as it no longer felt as if I was on my own in the car.
Ford promises more as standard...
Car giants Ford have a new strategy underway based on the concept that more as standard is better than having to go pay more elsewhere. The Ford cars are packed with a range of features included in the price of the car which is a great bonus when you consider most cars you expect to pay more for the added luxuries.
The new marketing campaigns show more in a Ford in not just the physical appearance but in the services offered from the Ford dealers. More information is yet to be confirmed, but I think this could be a great way of local Ford dealerships gaining a fantastic following in after care service.
My Ford Ka is an amazing first car to own, both trustworthy and reliable in any situation and if the preview advertisements from Ford are anything to go by I think they will use this as a great selling point. Watch this space.

How high is your Sex Drive? ♥
The new provocatively named TV show 'Seat Sex Drive' is set to hit our screens in the coming month hosted by Emma Willis and Jack Osborne. The show has been created to raise brand awareness and create a sense of loyalty amongst 18-44 year olds that are seeking a new/used Seat car.
The concept will be 300 drivers recruited to take part in the show through social media platforms Club Seat and Facebook. Four drivers will then be picked, both male and female for the final which will take place over seven episodes.
Magazine publishing giants IPC media are supporting the show as well as Fifth Gear presenters Vicki Butler-Henderson and Jonny Smith. Creating an explosive mixture of excitement and tension in one blow, the Seat Sex Drive will ultimately provide an answer to the old age question- Who is the better driver? Thanks god they didn’t pick me is all I will say! I am unafraid of my incompetence behind the wheel…

Britain is pretty Fine!!
London drivers are the most offending motorists in the whole of the UK according to a study recently taken out by Esure, the Insurance Company. The survey that was conducted detailed that motorists in London racked up the highest amount of fines for driving fines with up to £680 being spent in one lifetime! Not so much small change anymore is it!
The survey was completed by around 1,107 drivers and it was unearthed that Northern Irish drivers paid the least amount of money in driving fines with just £90 over a lifetime, quite a difference. The most popular driving fine was for illegal parking and speeding with 36% of offenders knowing they were breaking the law.
The motoring survey revealed that the battle of the sexes was in fact won by the female population with women racking up £210 worth of fines and men with a whopping £344 amount of fines. I have never had to visit a solicitors in Kent, my home town, due to a motoring fine as my license is completely clean, however should I ever need advice, I know of a family run solicitors in Maidstone that are hot on motoring law- One of the most complicated areas of law!

Mazda proves they are HOT on Customer Service…
This year’s Best Car Company for Customer Satisfaction goes to Mazda according to the UK Institute of Customer Service with a top score of 80.6% and an average industry score of 75.6% overall. The top five automotive manufacturers were:
Mazda - 80.6%
Honda - 80.3%
BMW/Mini - 80.2%
Toyota - 79.6%
Mercedes Benz - 79.0%
The survey is published every six months and a group of 26,000 people are asked about the services they receive from major UK brands such as Mazda Cars and Mini. In the utilities sector, food retailers Waitrose came out on top with 88% in the satisfaction survey- I agree, I love a bit of Waitrose on a Sunday Morning. There pate is to die for. I digress…
So, the survey is based on a number of factors, such as quality of the service, the handling of enquiries and the friendliness of staff, which is obviously extremely important when working in a Mazda Car dealership as you are the first point of contact for the customer.
It goes to show what the UK’s motoring world wants and that seems to be Mazda for a truly satisfying motoring experience.

Caroline the Ka ready for a makeover!
So, in my quest for looking for a new car, I have decided that I am going to have to do a little work on my old 1996 Ka to ensure I get a maximum price for when I trade it in! I have located a Ford parts store that should sort me out and provide me with all of the bits I need to give Caroline the Ka a grand old makeover!
I have checked out a few bits and their prices and they all seem really reasonable! I am excited about getting to work and as expensive as it may be, it will be well worth it! I have made a list of my choice pieces to be fitted:
1. New Leather Steering Wheel
2. New Floor mats
3. Luggage Compartment Mat

The new Ford Start Concept attracts a crowd in California...
The new Ford Start Concept car was shown at the SoCal Motor Show in California this month drawing gasps of admiration from the crowds. Featured alongside classic beauties such as the Ferrari 458 Italia and the Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint Zagato, the new Ford Start Concept car certainly did not look out of place!
Originally debuted at the Beijing Motor Show at the start of 2010, the new car proved a huge hit with fans and the publicity has spiralled from there! Visitors to both the Beijing Motor Show and the SoCal Motor Show in California were blown away with the size and styling and showed keen signs of wanting more.
With an intense want to know more, the crowds pressed Ford for an idea of when the car would be put into production amidst speculation that the new Ford Start Concept car would become the new version of the Ford Ka. I am excited to know more, with my Ford Ka due an upgrade. I am going to have a little look online and see my trusty local Ford in Hastings has any info! I am so impatient!!

I have seen pictures of what is to be expected and it not only looks incredibly stylish, but comfortable too! In my quest for a new car (which yes I know has spanned a three month period of pretty much talking but no doing) I have been quite drawn to this vehicle, so I have booked a test drive when I am down in Eastbourne in a few weeks. I have found a great online Kia in Eastbourne, so I have no excuses this time. About time too, my trusty Ka is starting to dull my shine!!

New Skoda Fabia just went up a grade!
The Skoda Fabia has been reborn, in a smarter, clued up model. A phoenix rising from the flames, the new Skoda Fabia has a finely tuned spec and a new engine ready to roar its way onto our roads.
Packed with high tech equipment inside the cabin such as a new entertainment system and the latest gadgets including a touch screen sat nav and a multifunctional device that permits the link up of your iPod or MP3 player you journey will be anything but boring!
The new engine in the new Skoda Fabia is a cracking 1.2 litre TSI with a 7 speed automatic gearbox, guaranteed to ensure you a nippy drive in and around town. For those wanting a bit more engine for their appetite, the car is also available in a 1.6 litre diesel version with relatively economic fuel consumption of 67 mpg.
The first thing I thought of when I saw the New Skoda Fabia online was my friend who has just graduated from University studying law and is returning home to complete a work placement so will need a nippy little number that will be relatively cheap to run and cause minimal problems. She does however have a penchant for the finer things in life, but the Skoda Fabia should keep her happy with its luxurious alloy wheels, electric mirrors and air-conditioning to name a few key features. She lives in Sussex, so her first search will be for a new Skoda Fabia in Sussex, which I will have to make her do otherwise it will be straight onto a designer handbag store! Why do I have to be so sensible ;-)

If Audi did Foosball Tables…

Audi seem to be branching out in different directions of late, with the design of the Audi Foosball table. Applying their styling language to the toy game, Audi has created a smooth new version of the table that takes inspiration from the smooth curvaceous lines of the new Audi TT and the lightweight qualities of the German make.
Unfortunately, this design is yet to be put into production with the car manufacturer, but I am sure that if it was, it would do incredibly well. If it anything like the slick new TT my Mum has just purchased, I bet it works a treat!

Volkswagen’s theory of fun!

Volkswagen has come up with a page dedicated to fun ideas aimed at changing people’s behaviour for the better, whether it is for the environment or just generally.
The Wiki Traffic Light is the most recent offering, which putting it simply is a set of traffic lights that are fitted with a screen that displays a fun and interesting fact when the light is on red. This is aimed at making people stop and giving them something to make the stop more entertaining. Thus encouraging them to do the right thing!

Ford Focus Electric- Do you have a spare charger?
2011 is set to see the new Ford Focus Electric go on sale charged by a lithium-ion battery pack. The new Ford Focus Electric is based on the Focus Sedan and hatchback and the electric car has been debuted at Detroit’s Auto Show this year to an eagerly awaiting audience.
Set for release in the latter stages of 2011, it is said to be able to run 100 miles per each full charge of battery! The battery will be built in by electrical giants LG Chem initially in Korea, moving through to Michigan in the US.
All going to plan, this will pave the way for two new hybrid cars in 2012 running on the similar Ford Focus battery platform. I cannot wait to charge up something other than a phone!

Driving Test woes…
A girl at my work has just recently passed her driving test in which she drove she drove a Ford Fiesta and it got me thinking. Although nearly 5 years ago since I passed, I remember the day so clearly, what with it being my fourth time and all and I drove a small but perfectly formed Ford Focus. I loved that car so much, it was fun to drive and I felt so safe!!
Now driving my used Ford Ka, which is just as fun, just maybe not as reliable, I kind of miss that Ford Focus as much as I feared it all those years ago. I have been looking for an upgrade on my car for a while now and the Ford Focus just keeps popping back into my mind. I have searched online at some pretty decent used car supermarkets and found a superb used Ford Focus in Doncaster that I am tempted to go and see, it is in a beautiful metallic blue colour and it is very good value for money.
I found a hell of a lot of matches in Doncaster for Ford actually, which also made me think….. maybe I’ll get up there to sell my used Ford Ka in Doncaster!!

Fiat gets nifty with its feet...
Fiat is teaming up with England Football club and Wembley FC to supply them with their cars and in turn the Fiat brand will have banners displayed during the England homes games to help raise awareness of the automotive brand.
The contract will run until the 2014 and with 2010 being the commencing date, the same year as the World Cup, this will only help raise this awareness even further. In line with Fiat’s range of hip, new cars such as the new Fiat 500 and the Fiat Grande Punto, I have no doubt we will see thousands of Fiat 500 cars in Kent driving up and down the motorways in the coming months.
Considering the previous success enjoyed by Ford with its collaboration with football in 2009 Fiat are cruising in the right direction for victory.

Here's to you Alfa Romeo...
Yesterday saw the 100th anniversary of the car brand Alfa Romeo and it was celebrated in true style with its release of the new Giulietta which is five doors. The snazzy new car is officially released next month to the public amidst the hype that surrounds it.
The new Giulietta car is available in a range of trim levels and engines and has already received top marks in its crash testing. It has been compared to the Volkswagen Golf that is currently on the market which is riding the wave of automotive success.
Alfa Romeo, began in 1910 with designer Giuseppe Merosi created the first 24 horsepower car for the then named company ALFA. I first saw the Alfa Romeo when I watched a re-run of The Graduate and saw Dustin Hoffman driving the open top car the Alfa Romeo Spider. Since then, I have had a real admiration for their sleek and superbly stylish models.
Happy anniversary Alfa Romeo- hope it’s a good’un!

Renault makes beautiful music…
The car manufacturer Renault has a latest offering of the Renault Clio 1.2 I-Music, the economical and spacious 3 door car.
With room enough for four adults comfortably and space in the boot, it is the perfect roadtrippin’ car for me and my mates!
It not only looks good on the outside, but the cabin is well laid out, smart and aesthetically pleasing. Safety is also advanced on the model, with a whopping 6 airbags in total- wow! With Bluetooth technology fitted to enable us to conference in the car and air conditioning to keep us nice and cool (should the weather get a kick up the back-side) it is a dream. Maybe even my Dream Kar?
Guess I better go take a look at my local Renault dealership in Kent.

Muddy adventures in a Ford…
Prior to my Bestival adventures the weather (not surprisingly) has turned really quite sour. The last week has been nothing but rain which inevitably means mud; mud for me and mud for my Ford car.
My trusty Ford KA will be driving us there and back and therefore I will be taking precautions prior to my trip to ensure it stays as clean as possible as a mud splattered car is not a good look. I had a look online at a Ford Ka parts shop and have found some really useful Ford mud flaps to add to my car to hopefully prevent any extra stains.
All I need to worry about now are the people in my car, controlling the weather is looking a lot easier right now!!

All Hail the Juke!

If you haven’t already heard about the Nissan Juke, where have you been the last few months!?
The new Nissan Juke is set to shake up the B segment super-mini market and smashed its monthly sales target when it was introduced to the Japanese market last month. A whopping 10,943 orders were made in the first month, seriously surpassing the 1,300 units that Nissan predicted!
A
lthough sceptics are still unsure of now the boldly styled compact crossover will be received by US consumers, who are more at home with their traditional SUVs, Nissan Europe execs are optimistic that buyers will be happy to trade in their Focus for something less conventional.
The UK target is 9,000 units in the first six months of sales and 20,000 a year once all variants are launched.
The Juke was most popular with 50+ males who represented 44% of the Japanese orders! A surprise for Nissan who hoped the new Nissan Juke would appeal to young, ‘retro sexual’ males, preferably in their late twenties or early thirties. I can just imagine dads queuing to buy the Nissan Juke in Cardiff and across the country; forget sporty two seaters the Nissan Juke is the new mid-life crisis!
Hip Hip Hooray for VW!

It is safe to say that the Volkswagen Golf is pretty successful. Volkswagen’s best-selling model and the third best-selling model in the world, it’s made a name for itself in the automotive industry.
The already established VW Golf has received a welcome make-over to bring it back to the future with modifications including more space in the cabin and boot, an upgrade on safety and aesthetic advancements in its trim level.
The new priced Volkswagen Golf is reasonable for the amount of kit you are getting with a realistic emission output of around 149g/km meaning lower tax costs. Perfect for both town and longer motorway journeys, the VW Golf really is the car for everyone. Very well done Volkswagen!

London is traffic terror!

According to recent studies by Insurance company Esure, London has topped the poll for road offences. Northern Irish drivers were named the best with the least amount paid on road fines.
London drivers averaged out as £680 a lifetime paid in driving offences fees- certainly not small change. Second place was awarded to the North-East of England paying out £352 in fines. My stomping ground the South-East was quoted as spending around £303 in a lifetime in fines, guess I am the exception? I say touching copious amounts of wood…
Oprah joins the ban on phones...
Oprah Winfrey has never been one to fade into the background with her passion for making a stand against social issues she feels strongly for, particularly through the medium of her extremely popular talk show.
She has produced a ‘National No Phone Zone Day’ across America to raise awareness against using a mobile phone whilst driving and the devastating effects it can have. Car manufacturer Chevrolet has also jumped on board to help raise the profile by encouraging its vast workforce to take part.
Of course, Chevrolet has underlying marketing, with the free publicity of the new Chevrolet Cruze set for release in 2011 with word that Ford and Fiat may also follow in the next few months.

Skoda keeps on popping them out...
Car heroes Skoda have set themselves a task of releasing a new car every year.
Like a phoenix from the flames, Skoda seemed to go from strength to strength with its creation of ultra-popular models such as the Skoda Fabia and Skoda Octavia across the globe. The Skoda Fabia compact hit India two years ago and sold over 3,500 in just four months proving its price tag really was amazing value for money. In Korea, the Skoda Fabia went head to head in sales, with 875 cars purchased per month, not bad going at all.
The Skoda Octavia has been one of the most popular models from the manufacturer, but it is rumoured that Skoda is already ready for round two with the introduction of the Skoda Yeti model this year and the creation of an updated Skoda Fabia, expected to shift around 1000 units per month.
Skoda is also tuning into the online phenomenon that is online car supermarkets with a large amount of Skoda dealerships focusing on online advertisements to drive sales of the Skoda range.

Fiat 500 proves that less can also be more?
The dinky Fiat 500 is set to be fitted with a two-cylinder engine with 57.4 mpg. It seems there is a trend amongst automakers, with an increase in smaller engines fitted into compact cars, such as the Fiat 500 to maximise efficiency and still keep C02 emissions at a minimum.
The new engine Fiat 500, when released this year will be one of the world’s most fuel efficient models in keeping with Fiats reputation of having the lowest amount of C02 emissions across their range of cars.
The new twin engine will use four valves per cylinder, taking the car back to its roots as micro cars were in post-war times throughout Europe. Bringing the past back up to date, the new engine will be thoroughly modern. With stop start technology within the car, the new Fiat 500 is punchy yet smooth- the perfect combination.
With top speeds of up to 107 mph and the ability to get up to 100 km/hr in 11 seconds, the new five speed TwinAir engine will provide results. Available at the end of the year, it seems that Fiat is proving less is now actually more?

Lotus is full of Esprit for Paris...
The Paris Auto Show in September is rumoured to feature the Lotus Esprit believed to feature a glamorous 400kW + V10 engine… I know. Excited, much?
The Lotus Esprit, originally unveiled 35 years ago this year at the same Motor Show in Paris replaced the Europa in the Lotus line up.
Lotus will be debuting many other cars including two new GT cars at the Parisian automotive event as well as the new Lotus Elise which is proving incredibly popular thanks to its powerful 134 hp engine and amazing looks.

Fancy a go off- road?
The car manufacturer Subaru has been awarded ‘Off-road Car of the Year’ for their 2010 Subaru Forester by Motor Trend.
This combined with the successful sales levels of the Subaru Forester have pushed Subaru to go one step further and produce an even better improved version of the 4x4 for 2011 with a new 2.5 litre engine amongst other new additions.
Modifications to the car are said to include a cutting edge stereo system, an armchair with 10-items available as well as a newly produced TomTom system, so the future for the manufacturer certainly does look promising.

A way to Beat the tax increases...
I visited some friends at the weekend who have just bought themselves an Audi TT in racy red. They made the purchase through an online used car supermarket that they were recommended and the process was so simple that they don’t think they will ever do it another way going forward.
The Used Audi TT from Doncaster was in fantastic condition, arrived on time and was such fantastic value, that it got me thinking. Do we really need to spend over the odds on a brand new vehicle when we can spend half on a nearly new vehicle that does exactly the same job? After all, who needs to know that the car is not brand new, unless you tell them?
Used car sales seem to be booming, with the removal of the scrappage scheme and the pending introduction of increased VAT for 2011with larger items such as a car incurring quite an increase in tax charges. I am currently looking for an upgrade on my mums used ford fiesta as it is just sitting on the drive and could be traded in at a used car supermarket for a newer model such as a ford c-max that I have seen a lot of recently on the road and in the press. I hate the thought of wasting something, so upgrading now before the introduction of more tax is becoming more and more appealing.

Iron man Vs. Audi = A lightbulb out of this world…
Audi has always done very well with its product placement and this year was no different, with the Audi A8 Sedan, Audi R8 Spyder and the Audi R8 Spyder Convertible each having cameos in the Iron Man films. With the appearance of the Audi R8 Spyder in the feature film Iron Man 2, Audi partnered up with Paramount Pictures and Marvel Entertainment to run a social media competition named "Stark Expo & Audi Present: The Tony Stark Innovation Challenge."
The competition was based on the films Tony Stark and his desire to use vast intellect to eradicate problems with technology and invited people to submit videos with their ideas of how their inventions could make a real change to the world. The winner of the competition would have funding of $15,000 to fund development of the invention as well as a holiday and the chance to drive the Audi R8 on a racetrack, Tony Stark’s favourite car from the film.
The competition highlighted how Audi is always at the forefront of inventions in the automotive world and aims to try and make all of their products closer to their users through their use of cutting edge technology.
The winning entry was a digital bulb with built in internet technology named LuminAR that can project web pages onto any surface. The video submitting this idea can be viewed here.

London congestion charge lowered by Audi?
The Audi A1 is set to lower its emissions by the time of its release in the UK later this year. With a hope to lower its C02 emissions to around 100g/km, the Audi A1 will not only be powerful but economic also.
Up against other car giants such as BMW and their Mini car, the Audi A1 will also feature a mis-fuelling prevention design ensuring that you always fill up correctly. Currently, the Audi A4 and Audi A5 have relatively low C02 emissions, with the Audi A4 2.0 TDIe, an ‘E’ version of the A4 car currently on the market.
Of course, these engine changes and improvements will hopefully dramatically change London congestion charges, keeping the costs low and improving London’s environmental as a whole.

Of course, these engine changes and improvements will hopefully dramatically change London congestion charges, keeping the costs low and improving London’s environmental as a whole.

Suzuki release a star out of the UK...

The car manufacturer Suzuki has an A-star limited Edition model planned for us in the near future. Since the scrappage scheme has been removed, Suzuki has looked to expand into new markets to boost car sales.
The Suzuki Alto is a popular smaller car at Suzuki both in Europe and Suzuki wish to market the cars abroad to keep their sales number high across the pond. I wish them every luck, I know they will be successful…

UK new car sales rise 10.8% in June
Following on from my previous post ‘Scrappage a success’ back in June, It is reported that UK new car sales have seen a rise of 10.8% for the period of June. Compared with the sales for June 2009, the UK new sales have risen despite the extra pressure of not having the scrappage scheme.
With an ‘above average’ performance from UK car dealerships, it is though around 195,226 new cars were sold. It marks a year since the scrappage scheme was introduced, so in effect the sales have shown to defy reports that they could not compete with the 2009 sales figures.
The scrappage scheme of 2009 offered new buyers a £2000 discount if the car they part exchanged for was over 10 years old. With all the talk surrounding new models, we must not forget the amazing deals to be had at used car supermarkets.
The best-selling model was the Vauxhall Astra which enjoyed particular success at used car supermarkets across the country.
Although the results are particularly promising, it is thought that the next six months are going to be tough and times ahead are very uncertain. Perhaps the VAT rise in January 2011 may actually act as an economic stimulus?

Is the Suzuki Alto Britain’s next top model?

The dinky Suzuki Alto has received a makeover for the British market in the form of a new trim. The new SZ-L trim is loosely based on that of the SZ3 but with a twist.
Cited as one of the best value cars around, the Suzuki Alto is not only great value for money but it also does its bit for the environment and has fantastic green credentials. With the lighter carbon footprint brings lower tax costing, it gets better and better.
The new style Suzuki Alto comes in a variety of slick colours and designs, including Superior White and Bright Red, with SZ-L embossing inside the cabin. With a silver trimmed gearshift knob, body coloured heater control and air conditioning the Suzuki Alto really has stepped it up a notch.
Want to play on some life size scalextric?

Goodwood Festival of Speed took place last weekend with Mazda celebrating over 20 years of the Mazda MX-5.
As part of the Festival celebrations, a life size scalextric track was on display featuring the Mazda MX-5 through the decades, including the 1st generation 1990 original and the Mazda MX-5 as it is today.
The various models will all show how relevant the design is even to this day, with the Mazda MX-5 crowned as the worlds ‘most popular roadster.’
Audi helps our confidence grow?
The all new 2011 Audi A8 is set to help our confidence soar with the introduction of wi-fi access from within the cabin of the car.
The first car to ofer this functionality, the Audi A8 is installing a WLAN hotspot to the cabin making dialling up to the internet as easy as turning on your engine.
Of course, this will now mean that we have less of a reason to interact on our journeys now...Will this spell the end of conversation as we know it? I think in my case it would take a lot more to shut me up!

World’s most deadly road?
It has been reported that the A537 is Britain’s most dangerous road. The A537 winds its way through the Peak District and is affectionately known as the ‘Cat & Fiddle Road.’
The road which is predominantly popular with tourists contains an obstacle course filled with steep turns, and severe bends has been rumoured to have now been nicknamed ‘The widow maker’ – Not so nice!
Fatal accidents and collisions have reportedly risen by 127% in the past three years with the most common crash at the weekend during dry daylight conditions. The average casualty also worked out to be a 35 year old man, so watch out if your partner decides to drive you to a long weekend destination with the words Peak and District in its name!!

American Pie star arrested for DUI…
The actor Chris Klein of American Pie fame was arrested Wed morning for being two and a half times over the limit!! Shocking! He was pulled on Highway 101 with a friend’s dog in the passenger seat that was later taken into custody (Only in America)!!
Previously arrested of DUI in 2004, the actor may now face time behind bars, for a whopping four days! On a recent viral YouTube audition for the film Mamma Mia, Chris looked particularly out of it and it is not pleasant to watch- Rehab anyone?
Another actor bites the dust- which bright young star is next? We’ve all heard of Lindsay and Mischa’s driving misdemeanours, Chris though? It seems like such a shame.

Victoria Beckham teams up with Land Rover?!

It has been confirmed that Victoria Beckham is set to work with the car manufacturer Land Rover in the creation of the new Range Rover Evoque. I am not sure what to make of her new title- Creative Design Executive and her opinion that a Range Rover is ‘stunning’ for that matter!
Sure it is a great opportunity and it will raise the profile of Land Rover, but is she really the best representative? (Insert comments here). The smaller and distinctly sleeker model was unveiled by the gorgeous TV presenter George lamb to a party of over 300 celebrity guests, including Prince Michael of Kent and Gabby Logan. Random- much?
A spokesperson for land Rover was quoted as saying 'I believe this appointment adds a new dimension to my design team as we continue to design products to appeal to a wider audience.' Guess we will have to wait and see on its final unveil at the Paris Motor Show in September- Apologies if I don’t get too excited!
Premiere of Edward Cullen’s Volvo?

With the premiere of Eclipse at my local cinema this Sunday, I am extremely excited to see Edward Cullen back in action!
The car manufacturer Volvo feature I the film with the product placement of the Volvo XC60, which is doing surprisingly well off of the back of the film with young fans flocking to local Volvo dealerships to own a slice of Edward!
Volvo is teaming up even further with the Twilight saga to offer you the chance to win the XC60 that the famous vampire drives! Fangs at the ready...

Harry Potter Star set to team up with Top Gear...

The flame haired Adonis of Harry Potter- Rupert Grint is set to appear on top TV Series Top Gear on July 11th and I am quite sure there will be a few excited girlies out there!
Rupert is set to take to the famous track and hopefully make his way to the top of the leaderboard! Taking on the new Kia Cee’d, I wonder if he will use his magic powers to get to the finish line in the quickest time!!
All this HOT weather call for one thing and one thing only-“Road trip!!”

I am in charge of our social activities this weekend and what beautiful sunny weather planned, I have decided to road-trip!! The road trip will take place in my trusty Ford Ka, which I have been adding modifications to along the way, so I am crossing my fingers that it does the job!
For my trip I will obviously need music and let’s face it, the radio isn’t exactly fantastic at the moment and since the purchase of my IPod I no longer buy CD’s. So… I have decided to invest in an IPod connector for my radio- Problem sorted!
Only thing is- who’s going to take charge of the music and be DJ? Please let it not be Nicola!! She’s far too partial to a Disney Soundtrack or two!!
Mazda celebrate 20 years with THE latest I-Phone App!
To celebrate 20 years in the business, Mazda has teamed up with Fishlabs, the German Studio to create ‘You cruise by Mazda MX-5’ a new game for your I-phone.
The application is a racing game that is set in various scenarios across the world, including Desert Ride and Country Cruise. With the choice of an open or closed top Mazda MX-5, you get to personalise your ride and chose the colour you desire for your car.
The new application is based on the Rally Monster Pro game that is already available but the ‘You cruise by Mazda MX-5’ has been tweaked to improve speeds and general driving habits. With the option to link into various social networking sites such as Facebook, you get to interact with your peers and post onto a fictional global leaderboard.
Nearby Mazda dealerships are listed providing upselling opportunities for the car manufacturer with help and tips for your Mazda MX-5 creating a real sense of community between Mazda and its owners.

Fiat change how people drive- The Eco way...
I recently attended Marketing Week Live at Olympia and attended a talk regarding the Fiat EcoDrive Project- the consumer application opening up product integration into the digital world. To say it was informative is an understatement, it was so interesting and the speaker from Fiat was engaging with the audience from the moment he started speaking!
The aim of the project was to make the vehicle an integrated part of the consumers lifestyle and create a solid bond between the consumer and Fiat. A good example of this kind of relationship is the Nike plus Platform, where you not only purchase trainers but a whole lot more. This platform enabled Nike to capture customer data whilst still engaging the customer through the use of a microchip placed within a pair of trainers.
Fiat grasped onto this idea and realised that they could expand on this through the use of a ‘magic key’ placed into the cars. The use of the magic key meant that customers could engage with the music played through the magic key and the reactions could be monitored through the use of the volume button to gage ratings. Fiat knew that this could potentially be quite hard work with the fact they could not own the music so the idea developed into more about Fiat’s green credentials which they had always prided themselves on. This led to a USB key that could monitor the customers driving skills, their fuel consumption and their C02 emissions and Fiat could then give advice on how to make their drive greener using their captured credentials.
The brand value was ‘A to B with a smile’ and ‘From Car to PC in a USB’ really capturing the idea of digital placed into everyday life. Fiat personalised their approach creating the fictional characters Franco and Merv to make the relationship genuine as opposed to a client selling to a consumer. The last thing Fiat wanted was for the customer to feel like this was just another tedious task in an already busy day and instead a playful application that was fun to use.
So how it works… You purchase the Fiat car and the USB is already installed ready to monitor your driving behaviour. You then take the USB and upload the application onto your PC which is sent to a central database and then analysed by the Technical team at Fiat. The results are then sent back to the consumer, with not only generic results but particularly personal results, including an Eco Index of Accelerations, Decelerations, Changing gears and Speeds judged. The consumer has the option to shrink the data and really play with it, calculating the petrol used, their MPG’s and hidden costs that you would not normally be able to view.
The simple, single-minded idea was a success, with a media value of now over £10,000,000 and exposure across the world. For Fiat, it created more than just a capture of personal details and a strong bond with the consumer- it created channels of upselling to Fiat dealerships and also real results of how Fiats Eco friendly cars are doing their bit for the planet. It has proved how going digital has enabled them to control how people drive & it has created a real and sustained behavioural change within its Fiat drivers. This is just the start with Fiat, with the ‘My Car’ option in the pipeline enabling feedback to the driver via smart phones. With a multitude of possibilities, Fiat really has the opportunity to change driving for good.
