Volkswagen teamed up with Mattel to produce a special version of the Volkswagen Beetle Convertible to celebrate Barbie’s 50th Birthday and create the ultimate Barbie car. The bright pink Malibu Barbie™ New Beetle convertible was unveiled at Barbie’s Birthday celebrations enjoyed by a number of celebrities including supermodel Heidi Klum.
Collaborations with Katzkin Leather, artists ABD Racing Werks and FoamMolders took the Beetle convertible to the next level of Barbie, decorating both the inside and outside of the car accordingly. With no detail spared, the new Volkswagen Beetle Convertible even had customised leather upholstery and a dipstick decorated to resemble Barbie’s favourite pink lipstick!
With rhinestones and crystals decorating the vanity mirrors inside the car as well as a vanity case the trunk, it truly is the real deal. It took over five shades of paint to achieve the perfect Barbie colour for new Beetle car- high maintenance or what!
