Lisa Snowden models her way to victory in the driving stakes…

38 years old former model Lisa Snowden has passed her driving test after passing first time with only 3 minor faults! Elated, the model who formerly presented Britain’s next Top Model was said to be ‘so happy’ after the test but claimed to be ‘really nervous during the test.’

Feeling incredibly proud, Lisa was learning with well-known driving school BSM and has only been learning for four months so she has picked up all of her skills unbelievably quickly! Although Lisa has confessed that her biggest fault is getting distracted by gorgeous men walking down the streets, haven’t we all been there.

Lisa’s task now is to buy herself a new car to show off her top quality driving skills and her car of choice would be a Range Rover or an Audi, but says she will probably go for something greener and environmentally friendly like a Toyota Prius. To pass her test however Lisa drive a 1.2 litre Fiat 500 and she thoroughly enjoyed driving this model as it was extremely comfortable and adapted to her driving style.

Her driving instructor also taught celebrity students such as Sienna Miller and Kate Moss as well as the late Fashion Icon Alexander McQueen, Wowzers!

A New ‘Concept-cX’ for Mitsubishi

Building upon 70 years of four-wheel drive knowledge, Mitsubishi Motors are in a fortunate position to appreciate the customer benefits of this technology, in terms of on-road active safety and off-road ability, from Lancer Evolution to Pajero.

During the event of the 62nd Frankfurt Motor Show, Mitsubishi will combine this vibrant fluency with the first tangible demonstration in Europe of its regionalised environmental strategy, previewing the CO2-friendly next generation Euro 5 Clean Diesel family of engines co-developed with its parent company, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd.

As a showcase for this dual “peace of mind”, Mitsubishi will reveal the new Mitsubishi Concept-cX in Frankfurt: an available, inexpensive, maintainable and realistic solution to today’s pressing issues. Sporty and flexible, Mitsubishi Concept-cX will follow the popular compact SUV route to carry this message right at the heart of the market.

If it all takes off, I cannot wait to go and view it at my Mitsubishi car dealer in Newcastle, any excuse for a shopping trip!!

Hastings and back in a Fiesta…

I had such a busy one last weekend running around seeing some of my dearest friends and taking days out across Kent, including a trip to Hastings on Sunday with Ewan, Louise and Ben. The trip up there was fantastic even if it did take an hour as we drove through such beautiful countryside, seeing a variety of animals and lived in crooked cottages.

My friend Ben kindly drove us up there in his Ford Fiesta and it was so comfortable, I guess I have never noticed just how spacious it really is… With four adults as well as beach gear loaded up in the boot, we have plenty of space to enjoy the scenic drive.

Ben has also kitted out his Ford Fiesta with plenty of high tech equipment including an IPod Connector that allowed us to pump out all of our favourite tunes all the way to Hastings and back. There are so many ways you can add to a Ford car these days it is amazing and with the number of online parts stores what you can pick up!

New Look Ford Mondeo…

Images have been posted of the new Ford Mondeo and although it is in the preliminary design stages, there is talk that we should expect to see more of the new Ford model by the end of this year.

The new Ford Mondeo will be based on a four door coupe design much alike to that of the Volkswagen Passat CC. Likely to endure future modifications, the new Ford Mondeo will have a number of changes made to the back of the vehicle ensuring it fully utilises its shape.

With extra attention paid to the key features such as the headlights, wheels and mirrors, they will use top quality materials and encompass a futuristic theme. Said to be available in a number of trims including an ST version and even a hybrid model is on the cards.

I am a big fan of Ford models, I think mainly down to the fact that my first car was a Ford Ka model and so I associate safety and reliability with the brand and have no doubt that my next car will also be a Ford. My local Ford dealer in Sussex stock a large variety of New Ford cars including a Fords Focus RS Sussex which I have had my eye on for a while and they deal with aftersales services such as Ford servicing and repairs.

Check out the picture I have posted and let me know what you think… I think it’s the perfect combination of sophistication and refinement.

Audi joins the Pony Club…

Car manufacturer Audi has already successfully integrated themselves into several communities by supporting the senior England Polo Team and now it seems Audi is cornering the predominantly children’s market and sponsoring the International Pony Club.

With sponsorship until 2012, Audi are investing heavily in the weekly equine gatherings and the sponsorship is set to fund increased training within the clubs to seek out the extra talented under 17 Polo players of tomorrow!

Pony Club polo is played by around 600 people and the age groups range from an impressive 5 right up to 21 named Jorrocks and Gannons. With the hope of reaching extremely competitive professional levels, the increased support from Audi will make this happen a lot quicker than expected.

UK Audi spokesman Jon Zammett has reportedly released a statement detailing the partnership and he says that they are “delighted to help develop the next generation of England's polo professionals." Exciting times ahead for both the Pony Club and the Audi in Northwest, South and all over! I remember the hours of fun I used to have with my Pony across the country playing Polo, which makes me think, where are those rosettes I coveted so much?

Women always go for speed and power?

It is always claimed that women tend to go for Speed and Power as a lifestyle choice, but this could actually be somewhat of a myth according to a recent motoring Poll that found Both Speed and Power ranked relatively low as a factor when a woman is buying a car.

It has shown that it is in fact men that have an insatiable need for speed and women find the prospect of buying a larger more powerful vehicle very intimidating! It was the smaller sized cars that made up the majority of sales for women as we are highly concerned with safety and the small to medium sized cars provide more security for us.

Men have shown a strong tendency to go for the premium brands, including top quality brand Audi cars which have a strong clear design message and carry the undeniable badge of quality. It makes me wonder though, if the premium brands continue to produce the smaller sized vehicles, will women combine their needs and join the men in their brand choices?

One brand however that tends to cross over these findings is Mini, the BMW smaller sized cars. It has been found that the car has in fact been most successful with sales in women rather than men and I wonder if this could be also down to the fact that the French brand is perceived as extremely stylish…

Let me know your thoughts, which type of car ticks your box?

Joe Cole in hot water thanks to his dismissal of the UK Motoring Law...

HOT Liverpool FC player Joe Cole has landed himself in a bit of trouble after he was caught driving at 105mph in Surrey!! Found Guilty of speeding yesterday, Joe Cole committed the motoring offence in his ultra-trendy new Audi A4 worth a reported £40,000.

Although the higher end of the price range, its small change for a guy that is getting paid around £90,000 a week! The trail yesterday in Staines (massive!!) was not attended by the footballer himself but a family solicitor Mr. Loophole from trusted Solicitors Nick Freeman’s.

The barrister questioned the speedometer on the new Audi and also denied that the picture caught of Cole speeding did not feature Cole smiling! Scrutinized by the judge for not attending his trail, Cole was proclaimed guilty as charged which more than certainly topped off his already bad week started by his performance in the Liverpool game on Sunday that saw the star sent off!

Ooh La La for the Renault Clio 4…

I was surfing the net this week and have found a brand new image of the all-new Renault Clio 4, although yet unconfirmed, it looks pretty swish! If the picture is true to form, the new Renault Clio looks as though it has received some welcome modifications in the shape of newly designed headlights, additional door handles as well as a flash new set of wheels to boot. The overall look is certainly a whole lot more forceful of a design, which I think personally, works very well.

The new hatchback is rumoured to be released to the public at its hometowns Parisian Motor Show at the end of September, but as I say it is all very cloak and dagger at present. As soon as something more concrete comes up, I will let you know so watch this space!!

Subaru does their bit for the planet!

Japanese Automotive brand Subaru have been extremely competent in their aims in lowering their environmental footprint, not only building vehicles with lowered CO2 emissions, but also recycling almost all of their waste and using it for various causes, with a ‘Zero Landfill’ policy.

In the USA, Subaru of Indiana Automotive, Inc. became the first automotive engineering Centre to take on this challenge back in 2004, which has almost definitely set the pace for many other Subaru plants over the US. It currently makes use of 99.3% of its products including wood and glass and sends the remaining percentage to Indianapolis to be burnt and this is converted into steam power for the city. It has been so successful that current statistics show the average household contributes more to the landfill in a year then the Indianapolis plant does!

The Indiana Subaru Centre that produces such new Subaru cars as the Subaru Legacy and the Subaru Forester is aiming to follow suit and increase environmental policies and integrate themselves into the business community to increase productivity. Environmental policies seem to be doing extremely well at Subaru, producing even more greener models every year which really is a comforting thought, preserving our environment for our future generations.

I can only hope that other Car manufacturers take heed and help to increase these small but fundamental changes…

Is this Ford’s quickest mustang?

The new 2012 Mustang Boss 302 is according to Ford bosses, the quickest and best handling Ford Mustang across the pond. The design based on the 2011 Ford Mustang GT has drawn inspiration from the 1969 original Mustang classic quoted as the "best all-around machine ever created by Ford".

Using the luxurious BMW M3 as a benchmark, the new 2012 Mustang Boss 302 is set to be a top performance vehicle thanks to its powerful 5.0-litre V8 engine and a six-speed close-ratio manual gearbox. With lowered suspension and a clutch inspired by those of a racing car, there are three different driving modes including normal, comfort and sport allowing you to personalise your drive to suit your needs.

There have been stylish modifications to the 2012 Mustang Boss 302 exterior such as a new look grille, 19 inch wheels as well as a new exclusive front fascia. Inside the cabin of the car, there are Recaro sports seats and a trendy Alcantara steering wheel.

As well as the new 2012 Mustang Boss 302 there is also talk of a new track inspired Boss 302 Laguna Seca model that is a special edition from Ford Motors. Available to buy in a Black or Ingot Silver paint with red accents colour scheme it sounds pretty damn hot!

In the meantime, Ford has their super-fast range of Ford cars including the new Ford Fiesta that will more than fulfil my need for speed. My nippy Ford Ka may not be the fastest vehicle on the planet, but it certainly gets me from A to B in speedy timing!

Roly Poly Golf

Check out the footage here

A group of keen automotive fans with a love for all things crazy have created a wacky version of the Volkswagen Golf that has the ability to do roly poly’s.

By adding two large circular railings to the wheels at the front to the back of the Volkswagen Golf allowed for the car to literally roll over.

The video demonstrates the driver gaining speed in the VW Golf and then slamming on the brakes allowing the car to let the modifications do the work and still land safely on two wheels.

George Michael in Hot water…

Involved in a car crash earlier this year, George Michael has been charged with a string of drink and drug offences which would have contributed to the crash of his Range Rover in North London.

The crash that took place on July 4th saw the singer arrested and released on bail pending a further enquiry from the police. When he returned to the police station in August this year, he was charged with cannabis possession rendering him unfit to drive his 4x4 vehicle.

If you would like a front row seat, his hearing is coming up at the end of this month. Guess he needs to get a little clued up on his motoring law!!

I bet he wants them to wake him up when it’s all over, not before he go goes...

Hip Hop Hooray for the 100,000th Scirocco !

The 100,000th Volkswagen Scirocco has just been produced by the German Volkswagen manufacturers and it is a celebration of the third-generation model.

The 100,000th Volkswagen Scirocco car was manufactured in Portugal and is a Metallic Blue 2.0 TSI model. Like a phoenix from the flames, re-launched in 2008 in Geneva at the famous motoring show, the Volkswagen Scirocco was then only available to the European market in 2009. Eagerly anticipated, needless to say the Volkswagen Scirocco has done incredibly well for itself…

Audi A1 to be switched up…

Although only launched earlier this year, the Audi A1 Hatchback is just the start in the long line of family Audi is to create for it.

Next year we are set to be introduced to a 5 door version of the Audi A1, a Convertible, an all-wheel drive model as well as a Sportback model. Now that makes 4 brothers, what about number 5?

Drumroll please for the new Audi Q1 which is expected to be updated to match a critical list of specifications both stylistically and technically- excited much?

The new Audi car will have improved suspension and a higher power range of around 86 to 160 hp as well as a Diesel version that boasts a whopping power range of 105- 140 hp.

It makes me wonder what they will make modifications to next… I have seen a lovely new Audi A3 in Blackburn which is stylish and sophisticated; although maybe slightly executive for the kind of new car I am looking for? Whilst looking I also saw a new Audi A4 in Blackburn that is also extremely practical and attractive in its styling, but think it may be slightly out of my budget. If only I had a few more coins in my currently empty purse.

The new Audi Q1 is expected for release in 2013 and I am very much looking forward to seeing the new design Audi car!

Audi launches new petition to get The All New TTRS to the US…

Audi has continued to tap into the Social Media whizz that is Facebook with its petition to bring the new Audi TTRS to the US. The Facebook campaign encouraged fans to join in and bring the vehicle to the states, through its forums/ discussions/ pictures and loyalties on the page.

The petition now has 583 signatures, but it is growing and growing, thanks to the popularity of the new Audi TTRS stateside. The New Audi TTRS is turbo-charged and ready for action, with an ability to reach 0-62 mph in just 4.6 seconds and top speeds of 174 mph! It is a speed demon!

Audi- The fashionista’s choice…

VW Vortex- The number one online resource for all models of VW cars and Audi cars has reported a new version of the Audi TT sports car.

The sporty new design has a brand new interior available on both the coupe and roadster versions of the TT model, which is inspired by the RS5's interior. With a high end styling of black and contrasting Karmesin Red fine Nappa leather is the ultimate fashionista's sports car.

Available now across Europe and the UK, the new Audi TT design is set to appeal to the fashion conscious. I wonder if my Audi Dealer in Cumbria has an Audi TT in Preston in stock- will have to put in a call and try and get some pictures. Watch this space!

Ford's million pound salary- The job of dreams?

Henry Ford’s grandson Ford will be receiving a salary of $4 million as well as around $11-12 million in stock options to cover his work for the last two years. Ford Motor Company has sold 3.4 million shares and stock just last week generating a total of $28 million in proceeds!

This comes nearly five years after Ford said he would not accept a salary or a bonus until the automobile manufacturer was at a sustainable profit level and to make up for this, Ford are paying him for all of the years that he did not receive a penny of a salary.

A great sign for Ford Motors, who appear to be performing at the best level they have done in the last 5 years. Congratulations Ford! I wonder if all loyal Ford Ka drivers will be rewarded also with a brand new Ford Fiesta- Here’s hoping I guess….

Glamping The New Camping?

So, my friends were lucky enough to go camping last weekend and I stupidly turned the offer down… Festivals are one thing, but the prospect of an ice cool vino in a nice wine bar far exceeded the thought of a muddy windy field cooking burnt sausages. Boy how I was wrong.

My friends trotted off to Sussex for some Pocahontas themed delights and stayed in a gorgeous Tepee, their alternative to paying over the odds for a Caribbean holiday. Girls will be girls however and they did have a lot of luggage that they needed to take with them for the weekend!

I had told them about my Glastonbury pre-plans for my car and so had already kitted out my beloved Ford Ka to handle the extra weight, so I referred them to the ever-so-helpful online Ford parts store and luckily they had the parts they needed for their Ford Kuga! Alongside the statutory marshmallows, blankets and cushions, they picked up a Ford Roof rack which enable them to also take straighteners, clothes, shoes, bags, you name it. Take a look at the great pics they took, I am so jealous!

The Met rely on Vegetable oil to chase the criminals?

The Metropolitan Police Service is taking to the streets in their new greener powered motors to deliver their groceries!

In an attempt to be pro-environmental, the police are recycling their waste to vegetable oil that will power the cars that deliver their food supplies in a bid to reduce harmful emissions and lower their C02 footprint. In collaboration with energy experts Convert2Green and catering suppliers 3663 First for Foodservice, the new scheme will deliver food from food!

There are 93 Met Canteens across the London boroughs that will recycle their left over cooking oil and this will be placed into the police vehicles as fuel. As part of a mixture of 30% bio fuel with 70% diesel, the new energy will mean massive carbon savings for the planet.

At the same time as trying to save the planet from the nasty’s of powerful diesel cars, the new scheme will also hope to reduce the amount of oils used in the canteens across the boroughs and promote healthier lifestyles in the form of healthier food and what better than to use some of the cooking oil for cars and not tummy’s!

From its introduction in March 2010, the scheme has currently saved 18.23 tonnes of C02 and nearly 9000 litres of oil that was wasted has been used productively. According to a recent survey, the following cars have been voted as chiefly ‘green’;

VW Polo 1.2 TDI 75PS BlueMotion
Skoda Fabia Estate 1.2 TDI 3 cylinder
Volvo C30 1.8F Flexifuel
Toyota iQ 3dr Hatch Manual 5
Suzuki Alto 1.0 Hatch 5dr Manual 5-

The campaign is hoped to influence other principal companies to follow their lead and what better platform than the Police to pilot the scheme and use their authority for the greater good. If it not only helps the planet but also reduces waistlines, everyone is a winner!

The Volkswagen that is run entirely on human Poo?

In an attempt to encourage ecological and green friendly driving, a new VW Beetle car has been created that runs entirely on methane!

The Sewage treatment plant near Avonmouth where the car is available for viewing is showing the process of how the VW Beetle car will work and how it will help the environment.

The VW Beetle was developed by Mohammed Saddiq from energy firm GENeco who’s aim was to create a car both energy efficient yet still powerful.

Italian design house Diesel pair up with Fiat for Hot new 500C...

The car maker Fiat has teamed up with hot Italian fashion label Diesel to create a special edition Fiat 500C complete with denim upholstery due for release in the latter part of2010/ early 2011.

The denim upholstery will be an exclusive blue colour with a large amount of comparison drawn to the stonewash denim effect jeans. Complete with 16” alloy wheels that bear the Diesel Logo, this high fashion model is set to impress.

With yellow ‘D’ stitching throughout the inside cabin as well as the Diesel logo on the B pillar and rear moulding, the collaboration car will be available in a choice of green, ivory or red fabric roofing.

Packed with comfort features such as air conditioning and parking sensors as standard, the new Fiat 500C is said to be just like denim- ‘You just put it on.’If the used Fiat 500 at my local dealership is anything to judge, the new Fiat 500C will be immense.

Grant needs to Holt his speed obviously!

Norwich player Grant Holt has failed to turn up to his trail for a speeding offence it has been reported. The charges brought about last year were for a motoring incident that took place in Shropshire of which the 29 year old footballer was a part of.

The car in question was a Peugeot 307, hardly footballer chic, but hey different cars for different needs as David Brent would say…

Word on the grapevine is don’t drink Tequila and drive?

Celebrities seem to have gone awry this weekend, with a selection of the UK and the US’ diamonds committing a number of motoring offences. Tut Tut.

US ‘IT’ girl come Glamour girl Tila Tequila has ended up with two motoring tickets after her Lamborghini sports car was pulled over in the early hours of Thursday morning.

The first ticket was issues due to driving the wrong way down a one way street (!) and the second because the passenger in her sports car was unable to do their belt up. To add insult to injury, as she drove off from the crime scene she was seen going through a red light but luckily this was not noted!

Apparently suffering from multiple personality disorder, Tila seems to be presenting her US fans with yet more of a reason to be wary of the outrageous celebrity.

New Car Sales Drop for the first time in a year…

July 2010 saw the sales of new cars fall for the first time in a year it has been reported. New car registrations have gone down this month, 13.2% difference in last year’s numbers which has been put down to the removal of the scrappage scheme teamed with the fragile economy in the UK.

With this in mind however, car sales are still 15% higher than July 2009 and it is expected that 2010 will mean 2,000,000 + cars will be sold in the UK! Amongst some of the best sellers of July 2010 were; the Ford Fiesta and the Ford Focus which is great news for Ford Motors.

The planned rise in VAT is thought to help with car sales for 2010 with the purchase of cars brought forward to avoid the extra costs. I guess the proof will be in the pudding, or should I say the sales. Watch this space for my next update…

Lifetime warranty for Vauxhall announced

Stealing the thunder from Japanese car brand Kia, Vauxhall has just announced the introduction of a lifetime warranty on all of their cars. Kia originally pioneered this idea that practically threw them to the forefront of automotive success in the UK car industry so the prospects for Vauxhall look promising.

Taking immediate effect, the Lifetime warranty from Vauxhall covers all of the models in the Vauxhall Car range and will cover them a lifetime or up to 100,000 miles. With plans for second owners to be able to purchase a warranty under way, Vauxhall have big plans up their sleeves. Included in the cover includes; the steering system, the brakes, electrical equipment and the powertrain.

Vauxhall has claimed to be that happy with their products and services that they are confident with the new policy they have released and Duncan Aldred the MD of Vauxhall was quoted as saying “At Vauxhall we are confident in the quality of our products, the engineering behind them and the people who build them.”

The Lifetime Guarantee will ultimately boost sales for the car brand as well as the UK’s motoring industry which is a massive jump forward.

Arriba for Ford!

The Ford Fiesta Movement has enjoyed particular success in the UK for the past year, with viral Ford Fiesta agents spreading the Ford word through the medium of film, music, designing and partnerships with local bands/ events.

Now that the subcompact Ford has been released in the US, the party has well and truly begun. The campaign has generated half a million views on social platform YouTube as well as 10.7 million impressions on Twitter- no small feat! Available only from Last month, the Fiesta has already gone out to 3000 customers and the Ford Motor comp-any are suitably impressed with the outcome.

I have never driven a Ford Fiesta, as I am a loyal KA fan; however I have seen a lovely little green Fiesta at a Ford Dealership in Doncaster that my Dad pointed out, so maybe I could be persuaded!

With sales greater than they anticipated, Ford is most definitely in its second phase of its campaign and can guarantee a good old party well into its third…

German BMW sees a whopping 30% rise in its Chinese Sales

The luxurious German brand BMW has seen a significant rise of 30% in the number of car sales for 2010. With an expectance of hitting 120,000 units by the end of the year, BMW have high hopes for the automotive company.

As the world’s largest finest car manufacturers, BMW have sold over 75,000 cars in China including VW automobiles just in their first quarter of business. It would seem that these high figures speak for themselves, with BMW well on their way to reaching their targets. Amidst the launch of the new 5-series BMW Sedan in China, representatives of the German brand were pleasantly surprised at how well accepted the new vehicle range had been.

My Dad has always been a fan of the BMW, with a number of his cars being the German make, including a sported up BMW 1 series, which I loved. I would love to be able to own a brand new BMW, but with my slightly lower price range I don’t think it will be quite possible! I could however look at a used BMW Dealership, of which there are a few online that I have seen, one in particular is a BMW Cardiff that looks spectacular.

I could just imagine driving one of those bad boys- what a beaut! Pics to follow guys!

Usher pops his collar with Ford!

American Pop Star Usher has joined forces with Ford Motor Company to promote safer driving in US teenagers. Over 100 teenagers in Atlanta have taken part in a Ride and Drive program over one afternoon in their school day.

Designed to help educate the pupils on different situations on the road and also help them develop their reaction skills should they ever be placed in a threatening situation. This is the first time this service has been offered and it seems to be doing incre3dibly well especially since it has been partnered by American RnB heartthrob Usher.

It is a proven statistic that motor accidents make up the main reason for fatalities in 15-20 year olds.

Renault gets Social...

A new campaign has been launched by Renault for its Renault Megane car.

The new advertisement follows an actor named Claude trying to convince a group of people who have no exposure to the Megane that they are in need of some 'joie de vivre' or to put it simply some more joy to their life.

Created by Publicis London, the new Renault Megane campaign will be featured in a plethora of mediums, including The National Press, TV as well as Social Media platforms YouTube, Facebook and Twitter.

There is behind the scenes footage at TheMeganeExperiment.com, with a ‘joie de vivre’ psychometric test for people to interact with.

Holidays are now at home?

With all of this buzz regarding tour operators causing wide spread problems, flight cancellations and Eurozone’s debt crisis, it seems that my idea for a holiday to Egypt has been put very much on hold.

Research has been made into these holidaying problems and it seems I am not the only one either with a whopping 1 in 4 holidaymakers now taking their summer getaways in much more local climbs, inside the UK!! This is a massive amount of people not only staying in the country but also having to use their cars to venture to their holiday destinations.

So…it gets me thinking. If we are to say ‘holiday’ to Scotland this year or even Somerset, how will we get there? Both my boyfriend and I have dinky Ford Ka’s in Kent and have no intention of purchasing a spanking new car in the next four or five weeks, therefore our only option is to modify the cars so that we can make the longer journey.

I have had a look online, as earlier this year I needed to kit out my car for my Glastonbury trip and I found a great Ford online parts store that stocked fantastic and I mean fantastic mud flaps for my wheels and also guards for my inside cabin floor. They stock a great range of Ford roof racks for the car and I can only imagine that they have had great success of late with the sales of Ford accessories, with it being holidaying season and all.

I will post a pic as soon as I have fitted my new Roof rack. Exciting.
