Following on from my previous article regarding women and motors, I have stumbled across another gem from car manufacturer Skoda. Skoda is tapping into women’s needs and the possibility to potentially spend quite large amounts.
Skoda has been holding focus groups with women of various ages to find out what it is that makes them tick. Think ‘What women Want’ circa Mel Gibson, only with cars, and a less A-List Budget!
Skoda is huge in Prague, with a different Skoda on every corner and so a group of women journalists were invited to discuss Skoda as a brand, what works, what doesn’t work as much and collect some research to find the ideal spec for a Skoda car. After many hours of discussion, it was found that the dream car was a sporty coupe- not particularly a family car?
With this is mind however, after hours of research, women were said to want space, cleanliness and safety, with an all-round light feeling to the cabin. A second home, a friend and a sanctuary were words used to describe the ideal dream car.
It will never be possible to create a car that suits everyone, but Skoda aim to design the features that can enable the driver to shape their car and ensure that every box is ticked for them.
I think it all boils down to the fact that car manufacturers are starting to realise the opportunities that women hold within the car industry and the potential money that we are willing to spend… And all of this to come from a one-time failing car manufacturer with a bad image- about time too!
